blessed are the poor in spirit...

i never really understood what Jesus was saying when i first read this. why would be blessed if our spirit was broken, shattered, helpless. why is it good for us that we are poor in spirit? Pastor Gid spoke to us today about why Jesus has said this. he related it to an adam sandler movie...i forgot the name... but what Gid had to say today really spoke to me and finally allowed me to understand what Christ was saying.

Christ said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."

Gid only spoke from verses 3-5...but anyways Christ talks about 3 kinds of ppl here; 1. the poor in spirit 2. those who mourn - (Gid explained to us the word "mourn" that Christ used is the deepes most sorrowful-est type of mourning in the Hebrew language, there are 9 different words for mourn.) 3. ppl who are meek

Gid explained that Christ says, "good for you" to these kinds of ppl because they have never been wanted, cared for, and given anything. they are push overs, ppl who have a negative outlook on life and ppl who are just really really sad. blessed are these ppl, because theres something really awesome that was about to happen. a revolution that was coming. Jesus Christ was there to bring them good news, to give them hope, life and joy.

i probably said alot of things wrong... cuz i cant remember the exact words that pastor Gid used. once they have the sermon on liquid, ill redo this post or something...
